Travel aboard VIA Rail’s flagship train, The Canadian, from Vancouver, British Columbia to Jasper, Alberta. Experience the magnificent Canadian Rockies, and West Edmonton Mall.

Day 1 — Vancouver / VIA Rail

Mon / Thu

Arrive into the beautiful city of Vancouver and transfer to your hotel today. Enjoy time visiting the downtown area where shops and restaurants are abundant.

Overnight Vancouver.

Day 2 — Vancouver / VIA Rail

Tue / Fri

All aboard for a delightful journey into the heart of the Canadian Rockies.  Start your day with transfer service to Pacific Central Station this morning.  Sleeper Plus Class passengers enjoy a private waiting area, and priority boarding today. Visit the dining car today and enjoy freshly prepared meals, friendly staff and fellow passengers with stories to share. Tonight, watch out your large picture window as the train rolls into the night.

Lunch & dinner served aboard VIA Rail. Overnight VIA Rail.

Day 3 — VIA Rail / Jasper

Wed / Sat

This morning has you waking up to your first views of the Canadian Rocky Mountains. Enjoy an early morning meal service in the dining car prior to arrival into Jasper early today.  Upon arrival transfer to hotel and then enjoy a half day sightseeing tour. Visit gorgeous Maligne Canyon and take part in a soft adventure walk on the frozen river to spectacular frozen waterfalls. Experienced guides will provide information on the history and geology of the local region.

Breakfast served aboard VIA Rail. Overnight Jasper.

Day 4 — Jasper

Thu / Sun

This morning enjoy a wildlife discovery tour with local experienced guides. Visit Athabasca Valley, and see glorious mountain vistas, and the valley below.  It is quite possible to see an array of wildlife while out on this excursion.  Afternoon provides free time to check out the local town.

Overnight Jasper.


Jasper, located in the heart of Jasper National Park, dates back to 1811 when David Thompson, Canada’s great fur-trade era explorer and mapmaker, had his men build the first permanent habitation here while he was searching for a fur-trade route through the Rockies.  Visit the Jasper Yellowhead Museum for more information about the history of this world renowned town.


Day 5 — Jasper / Edmonton

Fri / Mon

Early morning transfer service from Jasper to the city of Edmonton.   Welcome to the West Edmonton Mall where good times await.  The mall has many shops to visit for everyone in the family.  You can also take part in mini golf, swim in the Olympic size World Waterpark, or go skating at the Ice Palace. Find whole sections of the mall devoted to a myriad of restaurants to suit any palate.  And your hotel room is just steps away in the Fantasyland Hotel, also located with the Mall.

Overnight Edmonton.

Day 6 — Edmonton

Sat / Tue

Continue your adventure with a visit to Galaxyland or find your way through the newest attraction in the Crystal Labryinth. Enjoy family-oriented fun with Professor Wem’s Adventure Golf, great for all ages. Did you know the Fantasyland Hotel has Theme rooms? Choose from an Igloo themed room, a Princess room, an African room or space room, there are so many choices we can’t list them all here. Tonnes of fun and excitement for the whole family.

Overnight Edmonton.

Day 7 — Edmonton

Sun / Wed

Your adventure ends today with private transfer service to airport with fond memories of your Western Canada Rockies Train Adventure.
