Day 1 — Toronto / VIA Rail

Tuesday / Saturday

Transfer from airport or downtown Toronto to VIA Rail’s Union Rail Station for departure aboard VIA Rail’s train The Canadian in Sleeper Plus Class OR Prestige Class this evening. Relax in the private waiting area and enjoy priority boarding. Choose from semi-private or private accommodations within VIA Rail’s Sleeper Plus Class accommodations or large cabin in Prestige Class. Cozy accommodations are prepared for your nights rest with your friendly car attendant just steps away. Overnight VIA Rail.

Day 2 — VIA Rail

Wednesday / Sunday

Wake up to picturesque views of the Southern Ontario region. Travel through towns and settlements, thick forests and over rugged Precambrian rock as you wind your way through the Canadian Shield. Follow along with our milepost information to receive a knowledgeable historical enhanced view of the places you are passing through. Bridges and viaducts abound, lakes and rivers are plentiful. Relax in your private room or visit the Park Car dome seating for a 360 degree view of the passing scenery. Overnight VIA Rail. Breakfast, lunch & dinner served in the dining car.

Day 3 — VIA Rail

Thursday / Monday

Early morning has you arriving into Western Canada’s oldest city, Winnipeg. There is time today to step off the train and visit the local area. Winnipeg’s VIA Rail station is known for having good shopping and delicious local foods available close by in the kiosks located right by the rail station. It is also possible to take a tour of the Winnipeg area which can be arranged by request. Afternoon has you continuing west and heading into the rolling prairies. Overnight VIA Rail. Breakfast, lunch & dinner served in the dining car.

Day 4 — VIA Rail / Jasper

Friday / Tuesday

Early morning has a brief stopover in Edmonton as you begin your journey into the Canadian Rockies. The geography changes from flat lands back into forest and hills. Begin your climb into the cozy nestled town of Jasper. Arrival into Jasper early afternoon today with transfer service to your accommodation. This afternoon has free time to relax and get a feel for this quaint town considered the gateway to Jasper National Park and the Canadian Rockies. Overnight Jasper. Breakfast and lunch served in the dining car.

Day 5 — Jasper / Lake Louise

Saturday / Wednesday

Continue onwards today with transfer service to Lake Louise. Pass through the stunning Canadian Rocky Mountains on your journey south and keep your camera ready for wildlife along the way. There is time this afternoon to spend exploring Lake Louise, or relax at the hotel indoor swimming pool. Hot chocolate on the deck is also a great way to take in the surrounding Rocky Mountains. Overnight Lake Louise.

Day 6 — Lake Louise / Banff

Sunday / Thursday

Spend your morning relaxing as you take in the blissful wintry landscapes of beautiful Lake Louise. Early afternoon transfer to Banff today provides time to explore. Visit the Sulphur Mountain Gondola or enjoy a visit to the Banff Hot Springs. Overnight Banff.

Day 7 — Banff

Monday / Friday

This morning has you exploring Banff and its Wildlife with a guided tour of the area. Learn about the history of the Rockies, search for wildlife, and take in the points of interest along the way. Afternoon at leisure to continue your exploration of beautiful Banff. Overnight Banff.

Day 8 — Banff / Calgary

Tuesday / Saturday

Your tour concludes today with a choice of morning, mid-day, afternoon or evening transfer to downtown Calgary or Calgary Int’l Airport. Travel homewards with fond memories of your Canadian Rockies & Rail Journey from Toronto.
