Get ready to have a getaway blast filled with fun and breathtaking scenery as you relax on Amtrak's Coast Starlight. Have a Mother-Daughter getaway, a group of friends, a romantic escape or whatever you want it to be. Stay 2 nights or longer. Experience the Portland downtown walking tour, Voodoo donuts (you can even get married there!), the Chinese Gardens, Powell's Books, the largest independent book store in the world. Enjoy the unique mixture of contemporary and European architectural structures that are delightful to view and photograph. Not to mention the evening dinner cruise aboard the Portland Spirit or all the fabulous outlet and shopping malls. If you are able to spend a couple of extra days, the tour would continue down the famous Oregon Coast to Newport where you can walk for miles along the sandy beaches, and enjoy an evening bonfire with that old time favourite snack "Smors".
Day 1 – Los Angeles CA / Amtrak / Portland OR
Board Amtrak's flagship the Coast Starlight to Portland. Overnight on the train.
Day 2 – Portland OR
Arrive in Portland mid afternoon. Transfer from Portland's Amtrak Station to your downtown hotel by shuttle service. Overnight in Portland.
Day 3 – Portland OR
A leisure day in Portland to shop and experience the uniqueness of the city, the Chinese Gardens, Voodoo Donuts, or an evening dinner cruise aboard the Portland Spirit. Overnight in Portland.
Day 4 – Portland OR / Amtrak
Portland walking tour in the morning with a shuttle service back to the train station and home. Overnight Coast Starlight.
Day 5 – Los Angeles CA
Arrive at your home destination relaxed and refreshed.

- Reservations are confirmed upon receipt of $250 CDN per person deposit.
- A complete self-guiding itinerary and vouchers are provided after receipt of full and final payment, due no later than 60 (sixty) days prior to date of Day 1 of your itinerary. (VISA, Mastercard, AmEx, bank draft)
- All monies paid are non-refundable. Ask your John Steel Tour Consultant about travel insurance, its coverages, conditions, and limitations
- If applicable, pack an overnight bag for all overnight rail journeys. Safety rules limit carry-on luggage.
