Day 1 — Vancouver

Thursday / Saturday

Transfer within Greater Vancouver, including Vancouver International Airport, to your hotel, located in the heart of Vancouver close to restaurants, theatres and Robson Street. Overnight Vancouver.

Day 2 — Vancouver / VIA Rail

Friday / Sunday

Explore Vancouver with the City Highlights Tour featuring many dramatic views. Arrive at Pacific Central station for an evening departure aboard VIA Rail's Canadian. As the train heads into the night, relax in your Sleeper Plus Class accommodations, or spend time in the lounge or dome seating. Watch the lights of Vancouver pass by as you journey into the night. Overnight VIA Rail.

Day 3 — VIA Rail / Jasper National Park

Saturday / Monday

Breakfast is served in the dining car. Watch for wildlife and magnificent Mount Robson, the highest peak in the Canadian Rockies. Late afternoon arrival in Jasper, with transfer to your hotel. Remainder of day is yours to explore this picturesque mountain destination. Overnight Jasper — breakfast & lunch in dining car included.

Day 4 — Jasper National Park

Sunday / Tuesday

Discover the beauty of Jasper National Park with part-day sightseeing tour, including Maligne Canyon and Maligne Lake, one of the most photographed scenes in the Canadian Rockies. Remainder of day at leisure. Overnight Jasper.

Day 5, 6, 7 & 8 — Jasper / VIA Rail / Toronto

Monday to Thursday / Wednesday to Saturday

As the train departs the Rockies, it travels east towards Canada's vast, wide-open Prairies. Relax on board the Canadian with a visit to the Park Car with its 360° views from the panoramic dome and unique Bullet Lounge below. Watch for changes in the landscape as the train approaches Ontario's rugged Canadian Shield region. The vast wilderness will begin to change into the most populated region of Canada, with arrival into the nation's largest city, Toronto. Assisted transfer to hotel is available. 3 nights on the train, 3 breakfasts, 2 lunches and 3 dinners, overnight Toronto.

Day 9 —Toronto / VIA Rail / Montréal

Friday / Sunday

Transfer to Union Station in the morning to board VIA Rail's Corridor train to Montréal. Transfer to your Montréal hotel. Overnight Montréal. Business Class: lunch served at your seat on the train included.

Day 10 — Montreal / VIA Rail

Saturday / Monday

Spend the day exploring magnificent Montréal. Visit the Old Port, a 2.5km-long recreational and tourist park offering a variety of outdoor activities including cruises, exhibitions, entertainment and the Montréal Science Centre. View the Gothic Revival architecture of Notre-Dame Basilica, Christ Church Cathedral and shop at Place Ville Marie. Later, an evening departure aboard VIA Rail's Ocean in Sleeper Plus Class car accommodations carries you eastward to the Maritimes. Overnight VIA Rail, dinner on the train included.

Day 11 — VIA Rail / Halifax

Sunday / Tuesday

VIA Rail's Ocean, which features VIA's Renaissance Cars with new European style service and comfort, passes through the enchanting towns, villages and glorious countryside of New Brunswick and Nova Scotia. Arrive late afternoon in the port city of Halifax, transfer to your hotel and spend the evening exploring this lively, historic city. Overnight Halifax, breakfast & lunch on the train included.

Day 12 — Halifax

Monday / Wednesday

Your holiday concludes at hotel checkout time with a transfer to the airport. Thank you for travelling with John Steel Rail Tours.

  • Reservations are confirmed upon receipt of $250 CDN per person deposit.
  • A complete self-guiding itinerary and vouchers are provided after receipt of full and final payment, due no later than 60 (sixty) days prior to date of Day 1 of your itinerary. (VISA, Mastercard, AmEx, bank draft)
  • All monies paid are non-refundable. Ask your John Steel Tour Consultant about travel insurance, its coverages, conditions, and limitations
  • If applicable, pack an overnight bag for all overnight rail journeys. Safety rules limit carry-on luggage.
  • Please do not make closely connecting travel arrangements before &/or after tour. John Steel is not responsible for missed connections.
