Day 1 — Vancouver / VIA Rail

Tuesday / Sunday

Welcome to vibrant Vancouver, BC, nestled between the mountains and sea and home to the 2010 Olympic Winter Games. Tour starts with transfer within Greater Vancouver, including YVR Vancouver International Airport, to Pacific Central Station for evening departure aboard VIA Rail's legendary Canadian train. Enjoy sightseeing from the scenic dome, then relax in your Silver & Blue sleeping car accommodations as the train rolls through the Fraser Valley and in to the night. Overnight VIA Rail.

Day 2 — VIA Rail / Jasper National Park

Wednesday / Monday

Breakfast is served in the dining car. Watch for wildlife and magnificent Mount Robson, the highest peak in the Canadian Rockies while enjoying your lunch before arriving into Jasper early afternoon for your transfer to your hotel. Remainder of day is yours to explore this picturesque mountain resort. Overnight Jasper — breakfast & lunch in dining car included.

Day 3 — Jasper Sightseeing

Thursday / Tuesday

Discover the beauty of Jasper National Park with half-day sightseeing tour, including Maligne Canyon and Maligne Lake, one of the most photographed sceneries in the Canadian Rockies. Afternoon at leisure. Overnight Jasper.

Day 4 — Jasper / VIA Rail / Prince George

Friday / Wednesday

Transfer to the VIA Rail station and travel on the Skeena travelling through the heart of the Rockies and along the Fraser River to Prince George. Transfer to your hotel included. Overnight Prince George (lunch and dinner at your seat on the train included peak season only).

Day 5 — Prince George / VIA Rail / Prince Rupert

Saturday / Thursday

Aboard the Skeena today you will continue west going through steep canyons, past raging rapids and stunning mountain vistas of the Costal Range and even a glacier. Transfer to your hotel. Overnight Prince Rupert, (breakfast, lunch and dinner at your seat on the train included peak season only).

Day 6 — Prince Rupert / BC Ferries / Port Hardy

Sunday / Friday

Transfer to BC Ferries and sail through the magnificent Inside Passage, viewing towering coastal mountains, steep sided fjords and cascading waterfalls. Upon arrival in Port Hardy transfer to your hotel. Overnight Port Hardy.

Day 7 — Port Hardy / Victoria

Monday / Saturday

Travel south on a motor coach tour along the east side of Vancouver Island and the Strait of Georgia. Arrive this evening in Victoria's Inner harbour. Overnight Victoria.

Day 8 — Victoria / Vancouver or Seattle

Tuesday / Sunday

Transfer to the Victoria bus depot for a ferry crossing to Downtown Vancouver or Vancouver Airport.

  • 6 meals in Totem Deluxe service on the Skeena including meals served on the train are available mid May to the end of October only.

  • Reservations are confirmed upon receipt of $250 CDN per person deposit.
  • A complete self-guiding itinerary and vouchers are provided after receipt of full and final payment, due no later than 60 (sixty) days prior to date of Day 1 of your itinerary. (VISA, Mastercard, AmEx, bank draft)
  • All monies paid are non-refundable. Ask your John Steel Tour Consultant about travel insurance, its coverages, conditions, and limitations
  • If applicable, pack an overnight bag for all overnight rail journeys. Safety rules limit carry-on luggage.
