Day 1 — Halifax

Friday / Sunday

Arrive mid-afternoon in the port city of Halifax, transfer to your hotel and spend the evening exploring this lively, historic city. Overnight Halifax.

Day 2 — Halifax / VIA Rail

Saturday / Monday

Mid day departure aboard VIA Rail's Ocean in Sleeper Plus Class car accommodations carries you westward. VIA Rail's Ocean, which features VIA's Renaissance Cars with new European style service and comfort, passes through the enchanting towns, villages and glorious countryside of New Brunswick and Nova Scotia. Overnight VIA Rail, dinner on the train included.

Day 3 — VIA Rail / Montreal

Sunday / Tuesday

Arrive in Montreal mid morning and, transfer to your hotel. Spend the day exploring magnificent Montréal. Visit the Old Port, a 2.5-km-long recreational and tourist park offering a variety of outdoor activities including cruises, exhibitions, entertainment and the Montréal Science Centre. View the Gothic Revival architecture of Notre-Dame Basilica, Christ Church Cathedral and shop at Place Ville Marie. Continental breakfast and hotel in Montreal overnight.

Day 4 — Montreal / VIA Rail / Toronto

Monday / Wednesday

Take time on your own to see some of the sights of Montreal before transfer to Central Station to board VIA Rail's Corridor train to Toronto. Transfer to your Toronto hotel. Toronto is Canada's largest city and a cosmopolitan delight with world-class entertainment, restaurants, cultural and arts attractions and lots of shopping! Overnight Toronto. Business Class: lunch served at your seat on the train included.

Day 5, 6, 7 & 8 — Toronto / VIA Rail / Jasper

Tuesday to Friday / Thursday to Sunday

Your journey continues. All Aboard! Evening departure on VIA Rail's Canadian. Once again, you’ll travel in Sleeper Plus Class car accommodations, with scenic dome, lounge, and dining car privileges. As the train leaves the city, it heads westward across Canada's vast, wide-open prairies. As you continue west, you'll notice a dramatic change of scenery as the train enters Alberta and the rugged Canadian Rockies. 3 nights on the train plus 3 breakfast, 3 lunches, 2 dinners. Overnight Jasper.

Day 9 — Jasper

Saturday / Monday

Discover the beauty of Jasper National Park with part-day sightseeing tour, including Maligne Canyon and Maligne Lake, one of the most photographed scenes in the Canadian Rockies. Remainder of day at leisure. Overnight Jasper.

Day 10 — Jasper / VIA Rail

Sunday / Tuesday

Relax or explore Jasper this morning. Early afternoon transfer to Jasper train station. Dinner is served in the dining car. Watch for wildlife and magnificent Mount Robson, the highest peak in the Canadian Rockies. Overnight VIA Rail — dinner in dining car included.

Day 11 — VIA Rail / Vancouver

Monday / Wednesday

Full breakfast before arrival into VIA Rail's Pacific Central Station. Transfer within Greater Vancouver, including Vancouver International Airport, OR to your hotel, located in the heart of Vancouver close to restaurants, theatres and Robson Street. Full breakfast in dining car included.

  • Reservations are confirmed upon receipt of $250 CDN per person deposit.
  • A complete self-guiding itinerary and vouchers are provided after receipt of full and final payment, due no later than 60 (sixty) days prior to date of Day 1 of your itinerary. (VISA, Mastercard, AmEx, bank draft)
  • All monies paid are non-refundable. Ask your John Steel Tour Consultant about travel insurance, its coverages, conditions, and limitations
  • If applicable, pack an overnight bag for all overnight rail journeys. Safety rules limit carry-on luggage.
