Day 1 — Montreal, QC

Wednesday

Welcome to Cosmopolitan Montreal. Transfer from the airport or downtown to your hotel. Overnight Montreal.

Day 2 — Montreal, QC

Thursday

Spend the day exploring magnificent Montreal. Visit the Old Port, a 2.5-km-long recreational and tourist park offering a variety of outdoor activities including cruises, exhibitions, entertainment and the Montreal Science Centre. View the Gothic Revival architecture of Notre-Dame Basilica, Christ Church Cathedral and shop at Place Ville Marie. Overnight Montreal.

Day 3 — Montreal, QC / VIA Rail

Friday

Enjoy the day exploring Montreal on your own. Montreal is a bustling city of culture, arts & festivals. Visit the Old Port and shop an array of restaurants, terraces, and boutiques. Take a river cruise, or just enjoy the sights of the local community and its heritage. Early evening transfer to Central Station for departure aboard VIA Rail's train Ocean in Sleeper Plus Class accommodations. Dinner aboard the train. Overnight VIA Rail.

Day 4 — VIA Rail / Halifax, NS

Saturday

Spend the day aboard the train with service and comfort, as you pass through enchanting towns, villages, and the glorious countryside of New Brunswick and Nova Scotia. Late afternoon arrival into Halifax and transfer to your hotel. Breakfast and lunch aboard the train. Overnight Halifax.

Day 5 — Halifax, NS

Sunday

Begin your day with a Gray Line Halifax sightseeing tour. View Historic Properties, the spring garden Road area, Province House, the busy port, and much more, with time today on your own to explore. This evening meet with your fellow travellers and Tour Director at a special Welcome Reception. Overnight Halifax

Day 6 — Halifax / Oak Island, NS

Monday

Discover the rustic charm of the famous fishing village of Peggy's Cove. Next, visit the UNESCO World Heritage Town of Lunenburg and visit the Fisheries Museum of the Atlantic, then take a walking tour of one of the most remarkable preserved colonial settlements in the New World. With time this afternoon to explore on your own. Breakfast and dinner included. Overnight Oak Island.

Day 7 — Oak Island, NS / Charlottetown, PE

Tuesday

Today you arrive on Prince Edward Island via the Confederation Bridge, the world's longest continuous, multi-span bridge. En route, learn about the Mi'kmaq culture at the Glooscap Heritage Centre & Mi'kmaq Museum. This evening enjoy a traditional Prince Edward Island lobster supper before checking into your Charlottetown accommodations for a two night stay. Breakfast and dinner included. Overnight Charlottetown.

Day 8 — Charlottetown, PE

Wednesday

Enjoy a free morning in Charlottetown, or join a complimentary walking tour of the city. This afternoon drive by red cliffs, white beaches, gently sloping sand dunes, and green fields as you make your way to Prince Edward Island National Park. Before returning to Charlottetown, visit Green Gables Heritage Site, the alluring inspiration of Lucy Maud Montgomery's classic Anne of Green Gables books. Take in a theatre performance this evening by local entertainers at the Confederation Centre of the Arts. (substitution acitivity may be necessary due to the theatre scheduled) Breakfast and lunch included. Overnight Charlottetown.

Day 9 — Charlottetown / Baddeck, NS

Thursday

Ferry over the Northumberland Strait back to Nova Scotia and proceed to Cape Breton Island — the Scotland of North America — via the Canso Causeway. Visit the Alexander Graham Bell National Historic Site in Baddeck to learn of the many accomplishments of this genius who made his home on the island. Arrive at our accommodations on the Bras d'or Lake where you will spend two nights. Breakfast and dinner included. Overnight Baddeck.

Day 10 — Baddeck, NS

Friday

We're off to experience one of the most stunningly picturesque drives in North America. The Cabot Trail winds around the rocky splendor of Cape Breton's northern shore ascending to the incredible plateaus of Cape Breton Highlands National Park. Also enjoy a Whale Watching Boat Tour (weather permitting). Breakfast, box lunch and dinner included. Overnight Baddeck.

Day 11 — Baddeck / Halifax, NS

Saturday

The Fortess of Louisbourg National Historic Site awaits you today. A reconstruction depicting one fifth of the settlement of 1744 New France. Roam the streets and chat with authentically costumed guides to get a feel for life 250 years ago. Continue along the shore of the Bras d'Or Lake to the mainland, and back to Halifax for one last night in the Maritimes. Breakfast included. Overnight Halifax.

Day 12 — Halifax, NS

Sunday

Check-out of hotel today and transfer to airport or rail station.
