Day 1 — Vancouver / VIA Rail

Tuesday / Friday / Sunday

Welcome to vibrant Vancouver, BC, nestled between the mountains and sea and the home of the 2010 Olympics. Tour starts with a transfer within Greater Vancouver, including YVR Vancouver International Airport, to Pacific Central Station for evening departure aboard VIA Rail's legendary Canadian train. Enjoy sightseeing from the scenic dome, then relax in your Sleeper Plus Class car accommodations as the train rolls through the Fraser Valley and into the night. Overnight VIA Rail.

Day 2 — VIA Rail / Jasper National Park

Wednesday / Saturday / Monday

Breakfast is served in the dining car. Watch for wildlife and magnificent Mount Robson, the highest peak in the Canadian Rockies. Late afternoon arrival in Jasper, with transfer to your hotel. Remainder of day is yours to explore this picturesque mountain resort. Overnight Jasper — breakfast & lunch in dining car included.

Day 3 — Jasper Sightseeing

Thursday / Sunday / Tuesday

Discover the beauty of Jasper National Park with half-day sightseeing tour, including Maligne Canyon and cruise on Maligne Lake, one of the most photographed sceneries in the Canadian Rockies. Overnight Jasper.

Day 4 — Icefields Parkway / Lake Louise

Friday / Monday / Wednesday

Full-day sightseeing tour of Icefields Parkway, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Breathtaking scenery, from soaring mountain peaks to broad valley vistas, greets you at every turn on this renowned 142 mile (230 km) scenic highway. Includes Athabasca Falls, Columbia Icefields Center, Crowfoot Glacier, Peyto Lake, plus a once-in-a-lifetime ride aboard the Brewster Ice Explorer, a vehicle specially designed to drive across the glacier. Overnight Lake Louise.

Day 5 —Lake Louise / Banff

Saturday / Tuesday / Thursday

Late morning drive-transfer from Lake Louise to Banff. Remainder of day at leisure—shops, restaurants, museums and galleries await. You'll soon see why, for over a century, travellers have been coming from around the world to experience this world-famous mountain resort. Your John Steel Tour Consultant is pleased to make golf or spa reservations for you, too. (Golf and spa fees are additional.) Overnight Banff.

Day 6 — Banff National Park

Sunday / Wednesday / Friday

Discover Banff with morning half-day motor coach tour, including Cave and Basin National Historic Site, the hot springs where Banff's reputation as a must-see destination began. You'll also ride the Banff Gondola with panoramic 360° views of the Canadian Rocky Mountains. Enjoy remainder of day as you wish. Overnight Banff.

Day 7 — Banff / Calgary

Monday / Thursday / Saturday

Your choice of morning, mid-day, afternoon or evening departure from Banff for approximately 2 1/2-hour transfer to Calgary, Alberta (downtown or YYC). Bon Voyage, with happy memories of your Canadian Rockies Classic Rail Journey.

  • Reservations are confirmed upon receipt of $250 CDN per person deposit.
  • A complete self-guiding itinerary and vouchers are provided after receipt of full and final payment, due no later than 60 (sixty) days prior to date of Day 1 of your itinerary. (VISA, Mastercard, AmEx, bank draft)
  • All monies paid are non-refundable. Ask your John Steel Tour Consultant about travel insurance, its coverages, conditions, and limitations
  • If applicable, pack an overnight bag for all overnight rail journeys. Safety rules limit carry-on luggage.
