Day 1 — Toronto / VIA Rail

Tuesday / Thursday / Saturday

Your tour begins with transfer from airport to rail station for a late evening departure out of Toronto aboard VIA Rail's train Canadian in Sleeper Plus Class. Whilst traveling, guests will enjoy deliciously prepared meals, and access to the Park Car, including dome seating where 360 degree views allow for excellent photo opportunities. Tonight, your rail attendant will assist you to your room where you will find everything prepared for your voyage across Canada. Overnight VIA Rail.

Day 2 — VIA Rail

Wednesday / Friday / Sunday

Arise this morning to new views of the Canadian wilderness. Then it's off to the dining car to be seated for the first of many sumptuous freshly prepared meals served in a fine dining atmosphere, with great views of the passing scenery. All meals are served in the dining car, but you can also pre-arrange to have dining in your private room should you choose. Overnight VIA Rail — breakfast, lunch & dinner in dining car included.

Day 3 — VIA Rail

Thursday / Saturday / Monday

The scenery changes from Canadian Shield wilderness to the wide-open prairies, with a brief stop in Winnipeg, MB this morning. There may be time to step off the train and explore the surroundings; please check with your room attendant prior to disembarking. This afternoon relax within your private accommodations and spend time looking out the picture window, watching the world go by. Overnight VIA Rail — breakfast, lunch & dinner in dining car included.

Day 4 — VIA Rail / Jasper

Friday / Sunday / Tuesday

An early morning stop in Edmonton prior to arrival into Jasper this afternoon. Watch as the landscape begins to give rise to some of the highest points in Canada, the Canadian Rockies. Upon arrival into Jasper, transfer with bellman services to your hotel. Keep your camera ready! Guests often see wildlife such as Big Horn Sheep and Elk, frequently located in and around the Jasper township. Overnight Jasper — breakfast & lunch included.

Day 5 — Jasper / Lake Louise

Saturday / Monday / Wednesday

Full day sightseeing tour of the Icefields Parkway, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Breathtaking scenery, from soaring mountain peaks to broad valley vistas, greets you at every turn on this renowned 142 mile (230km) scenic highway. Includes Athabasca Falls, Columbia Icefields Center, Crowfoot Glacier, Peyto Lake, plus a once-in-a-lifetime ride aboard the Brewster Ice Explorer, a vehicle specially designed to drive across the glacier. Overnight Lake Louise.

Day 6 — Lake Louise / Banff

Sunday / Tuesday / Thursday

Mid-afternoon departure for the Mountains, Lakes & Waterfalls Tour. Visit beautiful Yoho National Park, the Great Divide, and Takakaw Fall. Overnight Banff.

Day 7 — Banff

Monday / Wednesday / Friday

Discover Banff with morning half-day motor coach tour, including Cave and Basin National Historic Site, the hot springs where Banff's reputation as a must-see destination began. You'll also ride the Banff Gondola with panoramic 360 degree views of the Canadian Rocky Mountains. Enjoy the remainder of day at leisure. Overnight Banff.

Day 8 — Banff / Calgary

Tuesday / Thursday / Saturday

Your choice of morning, mid-day, afternoon or evening departure from Banff for approximately 2½ hour transfer to Calgary, Alberta (downtown or YYC). Bon voyage, with happy memories of your Canadian Rockies & Rail Journey.

  • Reservations are confirmed upon receipt of $250 CDN per person deposit.
  • A complete self-guiding itinerary and vouchers are provided after receipt of full and final payment, due no later than 60 (sixty) days prior to date of Day 1 of your itinerary. (VISA, Mastercard, AmEx, bank draft)
  • All monies paid are non-refundable. Ask your John Steel Tour Consultant about travel insurance, its coverages, conditions, and limitations
  • If applicable, pack an overnight bag for all overnight rail journeys. Safety rules limit carry-on luggage.
