Day 1 — Calgary / Banff National Park

Sunday / Tuesday / Thursday

Welcome to bustling Calgary, Alberta. Transfer from YYC (Airport) or downtown to Banff, your gateway to the renowned Canadian Rockies. Overnight Banff.

Day 2 — Banff National Park

Monday / Wednesday / Friday

Discover Banff with morning half-day motor coach tour, including Cave and Basin National Historic Site. You'll also ride the Banff Gondola with panoramic 360° views of the Canadian Rocky Mountains. Enjoy remainder of day as you wish. How about a golf round on the famous Banff Springs course? Your John Steel Tour Consultant has all details. Overnight Banff.

Day 3 — Banff / Lake Louise

Tuesday / Thursday / Saturday

Scenic motor coach transfer from Banff to Lake Louise. Remainder of day at leisure — you'll soon see why, for over a century, travelers have been coming from around the world to experience this legendary mountain destination. Overnight Lake Louise.

Day 4 — Icefields Parkway / Jasper

Wednesday / Friday / Sunday

Full-day sightseeing tour of Icefields Parkway, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Breathtaking scenery, from soaring mountain peaks to valley vistas, greets you at every turn on this renowned 142 mile (230 km) scenic highway. Includes Athabasca Falls, Columbia Icefields Center, Crowfoot Glacier, Peyto Lake, plus a once-in-a-lifetime ride aboard the Brewster Ice Explorer, a vehicle specially designed to drive across the glacier. Overnight Jasper.

Day 5 — Jasper National Park

Thursday / Saturday / Monday

Discover the beauty of Jasper National Park with a guided sightseeing tour including Maligne Canyon and a Maligne Lake cruise. Bring your camera for picture postcard scenery and elusive wildlife. Remainder of the day at leisure — spa or golf, anyone? Your JSRT travel consultant can book those for you. Overnight Jasper.

Day 6 — Jasper / VIA Rail

Friday / Sunday / Tuesday

Morning at leisure followed by afternoon departure aboard VIA Rail's legendary Canadian train. Sightsee from the scenic dome for wildlife and magnificent Mount Robson — the highest peak in the Canadian Rockies. Chat with fellow travellers over dinner in the dining car, then relax in your Sleeper Plus Class car accommodations as the train rolls through the night toward Canada's Pacific Coast. Overnight VIA Rail — dinner in dining car included.

Day 7 — VIA Rail / Vancouver

Saturday / Monday / Wednesday

Rise early for breakfast prior to morning arrival in vibrant Vancouver BC, nestled between the mountains and the Pacific Ocean. Tour concludes with transfer within Greater Vancouver BC, including YVR (Airport). Thank you for traveling with John Steel Rail Tours. Full breakfast included.

  • Reservations are confirmed upon receipt of $250 CDN per person deposit.
  • A complete self-guiding itinerary and vouchers are provided after receipt of full and final payment, due no later than 60 (sixty) days prior to date of Day 1 of your itinerary. (VISA, Mastercard, AmEx, bank draft)
  • All monies paid are non-refundable. Ask your John Steel Tour Consultant about travel insurance, its coverages, conditions, and limitations
  • If applicable, pack an overnight bag for all overnight rail journeys. Safety rules limit carry-on luggage.
